AGE DIVISION: The age of the contestant will be based on her age as of June 1, 2011. Age divisions will be made by the Miss MOKH Board. Tiny Miss - ages 5-6; Mini Miss - ages 7-8; Petite Miss - ages 9-10; Junior Miss - ages 11-13. (If there is not enough contestants in any given age division, they may be grouped with the next age division). The overall winner in ages 5-8 will be crowned Little Miss My Old Kentucky Home and the overall winner in ages 9-12 will be crowned Pre-Teen Miss My Old Kentucky Home. NOTE: ANY CONTESTANT WHO WILL BE 13 YEARS OLD BY THE DATE OF THE STATE COMPETITION FOR THE NEXT YEAR (JUNE 3, 2011) MUST COMPETE N THE OUTSTANDING TEEN DIVISION REGARDLESS OF HER GRADE IN SCHOOL. Little Miss My Old Kentucky Home and Pre-Teen My Old Kentucky Home will have their entry fee paid to compete at State.
FORMAL DRESS: Contestants may wear a pageant dress or their "Sunday best" -- short or long. The dress should not overpower the child and should be age appropriate. Contestants will be judged on appearance, charm, poise, and personality. Formal Dress will account for 75% of each contestant's total score.
ONSTAGE INTERVIEW: While in Formal Dress contestants will participate in an onstage interview with the emcee. The interview will include questions about age, favorite school subjects, favorite teachers, favorite color, questions from Entry Form about family (sisters and brothers), pets, and hobbies. Contestants will be judged on charm, poise, and personality. Onstage Interview will account for 25% of each contestant's score.
PHOTOGENIC (OPTIONAL): Additional $15 entry fee. One photo, 5x7 or 8x10, either black and white or color. NO DIGITALLY ALTERED (touched up) photos will be accepted. Again, these are children and the photos SHOULD LOOK LIKE CHILDREN. Photos will be judged on potential print ad ability. Photos should be labeled, on the back, with the name of the contestant. Photos, with entry fee, MUST be submitted no later than October 1, 2010.
